Do I need a boat?
No. HookPoint is shore-first by default — the walk-in filter is on at every map load. Built for the 65% of fishermen who fish from shore. You can switch to boat-access spots anytime.
Does it work without cell service?
Mostly. Your catch log writes locally and syncs when you're back online. Your last-viewed spots, regulations, and weather forecasts cache for dead-zone rivers and country roads. Fresh AI calls (fish ID, ask-AI) need a connection.
Is the AI accurate about regulations?
AI summarizes — agencies decide. Every regulation card links back to the official state agency source. AI drift can happen between agency updates, so we treat the link as the source of truth and ask you to verify before you fish. We will never silently change a season or a limit.
Will my catches show up on a leaderboard?
No. Your catch log is private by default. We strip EXIF data before any share. There's no social feed, no leaderboard, no public profile. Sharing only happens through the iOS share sheet, when you choose to.
Is there a free version?
Every install gets a 7-day free trial with everything unlocked, no card required. After the trial, pick the plan that fits — Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly. We don't run a half-broken free tier.
